Classic Cars, Community Connections and a Tribute to Veterans

Published: October 26, 2026

The Village at Brookwood is gearing up for its 9th Annual Veterans Day Classic Cruise-In on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 2–4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event brings together residents, neighbors and car enthusiasts of all ages for an afternoon of classic cars, community connections and honoring veterans.

What began as a small gathering of approximately 25 vehicles has grown into a beloved community tradition, now attracting more than 70 cars. Unlike a traditional car show, the cruise-in welcomes vehicles of all makes, models and years, from vintage classics and Corvettes to trucks and modern favorites.

For Kristy Pardue, Wellness Coordinator at The Village at Brookwood, the event has always been about more than cars.

"I wanted to create something special for our veterans – an opportunity to reminisce about the cars they grew up with, share memories and enjoy time with others," Kristy says.

The event also brings generations together, with residents, families and community members gathering to admire the vehicles and connect with one another. Several Village at Brookwood residents participate by showcasing their own cars.

Guests can vote for their favorite vehicles in the People's Choice Awards, with prizes awarded to first, second and third place winners. Participating vehicle owners will also receive gift bags filled with treats and goodies donated by local businesses. With support from 16 local sponsors, the event is truly a community-wide effort.

"It's wonderful to see how much this event has grown over the years," Kristy says. "People love bringing their cars, sharing stories and meeting new faces. It's become a special tradition that brings our residents and the greater community together."

Residents of the Future are warmly invited to join the fun! Whether you're a car enthusiast or simply looking for an opportunity to meet new people, this event offers a wonderful chance to experience the welcoming spirit of The Village at Brookwood, connect with future neighbors and perhaps make a few new friends along the way.

The cruise-in will take place in front of the Wellness Center at The Village at Brookwood, located at 1895 Brookwood Ave. in Burlington. Admission and vehicle participation are free, and refreshments will be provided.
