Who says retirement can’t come with laser guns, spooky surprises and a little friendly competition?
Toward the end of October, Scotia Village will embrace the Halloween spirit with its Ghostbusters-themed Spooky Laser Trail, an evening designed to get residents outside, bring generations together and add a little unexpected fun to life in the community.
For the event, Scotia Village will transform a trail behind the community into a Halloween adventure inspired by Ghostbusters. Residents and family members will climb aboard decorated golf carts in groups of three, armed with laser guns and ready for whatever might be waiting around the next corner.
As each golf cart makes its way down the trail, Scotia Village team members will pop out along the route, giving riders the chance to take aim with their laser guns. Two decorated golf carts will rotate throughout the approximately two-hour event, allowing residents and their families to take turns experiencing the trail.
The fun will be open to residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing, as well as residents’ families and team members’ families. Team members will also be there to provide assistance to any resident who wants to participate, helping make the experience as inclusive as possible.
The Spooky Laser Trail is the idea of Wellness Director Sarah Laviner, who is always looking for creative ways to make wellness about more than traditional exercise.
“I love finding new and unexpected ways for our residents to have fun,” Sarah said. “Wellness is also about staying connected, trying new things and making memories together. I want our residents to continue having experiences that give them something to look forward to and talk about afterward.”
And there should be plenty to talk about.
The evening will be an all-hands-on-deck affair, with team members helping bring the Spooky Laser Trail to life. Participants will also be able to enjoy outdoor games like cornhole, giving families even more ways to spend time together throughout the evening.
Once the laser guns are put away, the celebration will continue inside with dinner and music to round out the night.
The upcoming Spooky Laser Trail offers just one glimpse of what life at Scotia Village can look like. Here, staying active can mean hopping aboard a golf cart with a laser gun in hand, spending an evening laughing with neighbors and family or trying something completely unexpected.
