For Ruby Enoch, a resident of The Village at Brookwood, a life plan community in Burlington, N.C., staying active has always been one of life's greatest joys. At 93, she continues to embrace every opportunity to move, compete and connect with others.

Since moving to the community nine years ago, Ruby has become an inspiring example of what it means to live well at every age. Whether she's playing water volleyball, pickleball or golf, she takes full advantage of the many wellness opportunities available to residents.

From fitness classes and group outings to the 24-hour wellness center, The Village at Brookwood makes it easy to stay active, build friendships and enjoy every day.

"My favorite activities here are water volleyball, golf and pickleball," Ruby said.

One of Ruby's favorite moments is when her grandsons visit and join her water volleyball group, making wellness a family affair.

Ruby's active lifestyle at The Village at Brookwood is a continuation of a lifelong passion for wellness. For more than 30 years, she has competed in the Alamance County Senior Games, participating in tennis, badminton, pickleball, shuffleboard, bocce ball, cycling, golf, cornhole, basketball throw and walking. Along the way, she earned recognition as an Outstanding Member in badminton and has represented the area in local, state and national Senior Games competitions.

"My favorite part of the Senior Games is meeting new people and enjoying the friendly competition," Ruby said. "It keeps me active physically and mentally, and I always have fun."

Her love for sports began in high school, where she played basketball and was named Most Valuable Player while playing guard. That passion has remained with her throughout every stage of life.

Originally from Alamance County, Ruby explored several retirement communities before choosing The Village at Brookwood, where she found a welcoming place that supports the active lifestyle she loves.

Residents such as Ruby demonstrate that wellness doesn't have an age limit. With endless opportunities to stay active, meaningful friendships around every corner and a community that encourages residents to keep pursuing their passions, The Village at Brookwood empowers people to continue living life to the fullest.
