There’s something special about a spring day filled with polished chrome, timeless design and the sound of golden oldies drifting through the air. At River Landing at Sandy Ridge, that energy comes to life during the 22nd Annual Classic Car Show, a beloved tradition that continues to bring residents, families and the broader community together.

Set for Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this free, family friendly event is one of the largest of the year at River Landing. Each year, more than 250 classic cars line the community, drawing car enthusiasts and visitors from across the region. Vehicles 25 years or older are eligible to show, creating a vibrant showcase of automotive history and craftsmanship.

Beyond the cars, the day is designed for all ages to enjoy. Guests can grab a free hot dog lunch, relax to the sounds of golden oldies music and explore a lively kids zone complete with a bounce house, face painting, balloon art, lawn games and prizes. With more than 2,500 attendees in past years, the event has become a can’t miss tradition that blends nostalgia with community spirit.

“This event is our way of giving back,” says Betsy Seaton, Director of Sales and Marketing at River Landing. “It brings together all generations for a fun, welcoming day and it’s always a highlight of the year.”

A number of River Landing residents and Residents of the Future also take part by showcasing their own classic cars, including Resident of the Future Wayne Mabe. This year, he plans to display his black 1934 Buick coupe, one of only 1,100 ever made. The car holds special meaning, as he and his wife enjoyed taking trips in it together over the years.

“I’m looking forward to the camaraderie with the other car enthusiasts,” Mabe says. “It’s nice to be around people who share the same passion.”

For current residents, the Classic Car Show is a chance to connect, celebrate and enjoy the energy of a crowd filled with neighbors and new faces. For visitors, especially new prospects and Residents of the Future, it is the perfect opportunity to experience the vibrancy of life at River Landing firsthand. Team members will be available throughout the event to offer tours and answer questions, making it easy to explore everything the community has to offer.

Held the second Saturday each May, the Classic Car Show continues to grow while staying true to what makes it special – great cars, great people and a welcoming community that knows how to have fun.
