Kintura’s Artist Showcase Celebrates Creativity Across Communities

Creativity was on full display as residents of Kintura’s life plan communities gathered for this year’s highly anticipated Kintura Artist Showcase, a celebration of talent, passion and lifelong expression.

Hosted at Well-Spring, the event brought together artists and performers throughout the Kintura family, including residents of Glenaire, River Landing at Sandy Ridge, Scotia Village, The Village at Brookwood and Well-Spring, as well as Friends Homes, which Kintura manages. The showcase reflected what makes Kintura unique, a culture that honors individual gifts while fostering connection across campuses.

Literary and Visual Arts: A Gallery of Expression

From intricate pottery to breathtaking photography, the visual arts exhibit transformed Well-Spring into a vibrant gallery space. Guests admired hand-thrown ceramics, richly layered paintings, detailed stained-glass creations and thoughtfully composed photographs that captured everything from North Carolina landscapes to intimate family moments.

The literary arts portion added another dimension, with poetry, essays and short stories offering glimpses into residents’ life experiences, reflections and imaginations. Together, the works told a powerful story that creativity does not fade with age – it deepens.

Each piece represented hours of dedication and a lifetime of curiosity. For many residents, art is more than a hobby; it is a way to continue learning, growing and contributing to the community.

An Afternoon of Performing Arts

The celebration continued onstage at the Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre, where residents stepped into the spotlight to share their talents in the performing arts.

The theatre came alive with music, movement and rhythm. In addition to vocal performances and theatrical readings, residents delighted the audience with a lively line dance performance, an energetic chair dance routine and even a choreographed drumming presentation that filled the theatre with synchronized beats and joyful enthusiasm. Each act, whether graceful or spirited, was met with enthusiastic applause.

The energy in the room reflected not only artistic excellence, but also courage – the courage to perform, to share and to inspire. For many attendees, the afternoon will no doubt prove a highlight of this year, a reminder that talent flourishes in environments that encourage participation, confidence and joy.

A Celebration of Community

As residents mingled, admired one another’s work and cheered on friends from the audience, the event embodied Kintura’s mission to create experiences that enrich lives and touch hearts.

This year’s showcase at Well-Spring was a powerful reminder that art connects us. Whether through clay, canvas, words, rhythm or dance, the residents of Kintura continue to create beauty, and in doing so, they inspire everyone around them.
