Kintura’s Day of Service: Living Our Mission in Action

Kintura team members are coming together for a Day of Service that supports the residents of Capital Towers and Milner Commons, affordable housing communities for older adults in Raleigh, N.C. This twice-a-year event is more than a volunteer effort; it is a visible expression of how Kintura lives its mission of serving older adults and helping them live life well.

Capital Towers and Milner Commons are affordable senior living communities for adults age 55 and older who rely on fixed incomes. They offer safe, stable housing and a supportive environment for older adults living with humble means.

Throughout the Day of Service, Kintura team members will package meals and transport them between Capital Towers and Milner Commons so residents can enjoy the comfort of a warm meal delivered with care.

In addition to meal delivery, team member volunteers have donated and gathered supplies to assemble gift baskets for residents. Some baskets will meet specific needs, and others will simply add a bit of joy during the holiday season. Team members will hand-deliver each basket to residents across both communities.

“It's very fulfilling to see the scope of our mission extended to residents, especially those on a fixed income. It is important for us as an organization to treat every resident with dignity and respect and to help when there is a need,” says Rick Williams, Vice President of Human Resources.

The day is a true team and community effort. Kintura has partnered with Morrison Living, a food service provider that has generously donated all food, supported preparation and will work alongside Kintura volunteers as meals and gift baskets are prepared and delivered.

This Day of Service is one of two held each year. In the spring, the Kintura team volunteers to complete light cleaning in residents’ apartments as a small token of appreciation and support.

Kintura is a proud partner of both communities, raising money year-round to support important team member roles that assist residents with day-to-day needs.

“Being able to stay engaged with these communities, getting to know the residents and seeing how the money we raise directly supports them keeps us grounded in the mission,” says Terrill Sandiford, Director of Philanthropy.

For many Kintura team members, the service days offer the chance to see the heart of their work in a new way. It adds meaning, creates connection and strengthens the culture of service that Kintura is known for. Every meal packaged, basket delivered and apartment cleaned becomes a reminder of what it truly means to support older adults with compassion.

This Day of Service reflects the best of what Kintura is. It is teamwork in action, mission in motion and a celebration of what can happen when an organization chooses to show up for the people who need it most.
