The Village at Brookwood (TVAB) is buzzing with holiday excitement as the community prepares to host its 9th Annual Merry Market on Saturday, December 6. This beloved tradition brings together residents, team members, family and neighbors from across Alamance County for a festive day of shopping, creativity and connection.
Each year, the Merry Market transforms TVAB into a bustling artisan marketplace filled with the sights, sounds and spirit of the season. More than 75 local vendors will fill every nook and cranny of the community with handmade treasures including baked goods, artwork, jewelry, photography, candles, pillows, quilts and more.
What makes this event especially meaningful is that over 20 of the vendors are part of TVAB family – including residents, team members and residents’ family members – all showcasing their own unique talents alongside local artisans. Many spend months preparing for this special day, making it a true community-wide effort that celebrates creativity and connection both within and beyond TVAB.
Guests can also enjoy delicious bites from a local food truck and live entertainment from Elon University’s a cappella groups. The event is free and open to the public, making it a wonderful opportunity for families to shop local and celebrate together. While admission is free, donations are encouraged, with all proceeds supporting Christmas Cheer, a nonprofit that provides holiday gifts and essentials for children and older adults in need across Alamance County.
“Residents look forward to this event every year – it’s a time when they can showcase their talents and connect with the wider community,” says Betsy Huneycutt, Director of Sales and Marketing at TVAB.
Since its start in 2016 with just 12 vendors, the Merry Market has grown into the largest and most anticipated event at TVAB. It’s a true community effort – team members help vendors set up and keep the day running smoothly, while residents pitch in by decorating the lobby with handmade festive touches.
The Merry Market is more than a shopping event – it’s a joyful celebration of creativity, generosity and togetherness that bridges TVAB with its surrounding community. Whether you’re a resident, a family member or a first-time visitor, you’ll leave feeling the warmth and spirit that make TVAB such a special place to live, work and celebrate.
