CARY, N.C. – Glenaire, a continuing care retirement – or “life plan” – community in Cary, is proud to unveil a $10-million renovation of its assisted living facilities and invites the public, prospective residents and local media to come tour the space.

On Monday (June 16) a ribbon-cutting event was held to herald assisted living’s reopening, and assisted living residents began moving back into their redesigned residences.

A highlight of the transformation: 40 studio apartments were converted into 24 spacious one-bedroom residences, each designed to offer greater privacy, natural light and an enhanced sense of home.

“This project redefines what assisted living can look like,” says Ben Stevens, Executive Director at Glenaire. “It’s a complete reimagining of the space, focused on comfort, dignity and the lifestyle today’s older adults expect.”

The renovated assisted living “neighborhood” features natural light-filled common areas, restaurant-style dining with a new full-service kitchen and updated layouts inspired by resident and team member feedback. The environment now feels open, welcoming and intentionally created to foster well-being and connection.

Residents moving in; space open for tours
Glenaire, which is part of Greensboro-based nonprofit Kintura, is now offering guided tours of its newly redesigned assisted living facility and encourages the public to come explore, including families considering care options, prospective residents, local media and anyone interested in seeing the future of senior living.

Importantly, assisted living at Glenaire is open to new residents even if they are not already living in independent living at Glenaire, making this a potential option for non-Glenaire residents who simply need a little more daily support.
